Besides, our town is not cursed. People stopped buying RV's and boats and we were not diversified as a town. The "RV capital of the world" came crashing down. That was our "curse" if that is what you want to call it...

Very nicely put... Quintero is a hero in my eyes... anyone who will give their life to help make others better for next to nothing for a salary, even though they (Quintero in this case) are highly educated and could do much better doing other things, is a hero.

I guess I don't understand why you are not still working. My parents and grandparents worked until 67 or later because of that reason. There may be extenuating circumstances that forced you into retirement though. Regarding the lady in the story, I know her.

I am still not clear what "free" health care you are referring to. You admitted, and it is true, that the government knows who they are now and nothing is offered to them. Nothing is nothing. Events like this just help to keep them out of the emergency rooms.

Yes, everyone is welcome to attend the health fair and the annual event has been very multicultural from the beginning. These kind of events are so important these days because some people in America (ie comments above) have lost focus of what it means to be multicultural in America.
